OBSCURE GLASS

(Vision-proof glass) – Any textured glass (frosted, etched, fluted, ground, etc.) used for privacy, light diffusion, or decorative effects.

 

OPERABLE WINDOW

Window which can be opened for ventilation.

 

OPERATOR

A metal arm and gear which allows for easy operation or closing of projecting windows.

 

ORIENTATION

The placement of a room, window, door, or building with respect to sun, wind, earth, access, or view (also see: Solar orientation).

 

OUTSIDE GLAZING

Glazing installed from the outside.

 

OUTSWING

A term used on doors that swing to the outside or exterior of the home. It is viewed from the outside for hinging.
