Gasket
A pliable, flexible continuous strip of material used to affect a watertight seal between the sash and frame of roof windows much like the seal around a refrigerator door.
Glass
An elastic transparent material composed of silica (sand), soda (sodium carbonate), and lime (calcium carbonate) with small quantities of aluminum, boric, or magnesia oxides.
Geometric window
A fixed framed window made up of 2 or more angles (i.e., pentagon or trapezoid).
Glazing
Glass or other material that is placed into a window or door sash, or the process of installing this material.
Glazing bead
(Glass stop / Wood stop / Sill bead) - A molding or stop placed around a window or door to cover the glass edge.
Glazing channel
A groove cut into the sash for the mounting of glass.
Glazing compound
A pliable substance applied between the window or door sash and the lights of glass to seal against the elements and sometimes to attach the glass to the sash.
Gothic-head window
Usually removable for easy cleaning, grilles give the appearance of a divided window pane.
Grain
Natural pattern of growth in wood. Different species have differing grain characteristics. Grain is also naturally variable, one of the beauties of wood.
